Houston Professional Republican Women are proud to present a forum with two of the candidates for Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, Tom Mechler and Steve Munisteri.  Both of these men are strong believers in uniting Texas Republicans in order to maintain Republican control of the Texas Legislature during the crucial redistricting session.

 

Steve Munisteri, attorney, television commentator and entrepreneur has worked on political campaigns since 1972 working anywhere and in any state the Republican Party or a particular campaign needed him.  He has served as precinct chair multiple times, as SREC from SD17 and many times as delegate to both state and national conventions.  A graduate of Memorial High School and the University of Texas with both undergraduate and law degrees, he has over 27 years as a litigator and 15 years as a television commentator.

 

Tom Mechler, president of a small oil and gas production company, real estate entity and consulting business in Amarillo also sits as the Vice-Chairman of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice.  He is the former Chairman of both the Armstrong County Republican Party and the Gray County Republican Party (both in Texas) and served two terms as SREC from SD28.  A graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, he has worked in the oil and gas industry in both Texas and Alaska.  While in Alaska he served three years as Chairman of the Alaska Republican Party.
